After-Hours Programs

Youth.Start @ STARTTS Centres

After-Hours programs offer a wide range of engaging activities to young people of migrant and refugee experience aged 10–18.

The Youth.Start @ STARTTS centres were created to support the physical, emotional and social well-being of young people through a combination of physical, educational, and social experiences tailored to their needs.

Youth.Start @ STARTTS originated at the Fairfield Youth Centre, and has continued for almost 8 years now! From one centre, we now run 4 across Fairfield, Liverpool, Granville and Blacktown.

What do young people think about youth centres?

You start relationships that last forever and the place itself is what makes it nice

We meet friends that we don’t meet everyday… I go there to play with them and that’s what make me happy

I try to give back to the youth centre by volunteering and helping them out, and bringing my friends there and helping them out. I can look after my friends… which is a bit funny because once I was just like them playing soccer. But now I’m a volunteer so I look after them, which is really good because it gave me purpose and it made me feel like I can belong to this place
